Couple arrested for allegedly threatening to kill Van Buren bank employees

VAN BUREN, MO (KFVS) - Two people were arrested after investigators say they threatened the lives of bank employees in Van Buren.

According to the Carter County Sheriff's Department, they received multiple "Hold Up Alarms" from the Bank of Grandin around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, September 4.

Officers say when they arrived, they were told a 77-year-old man and his 68-year-old wife had entered the bank demanding money they felt the bank had stolen from them.

Witnesses also told police the two had threatened to get a weapon from the car and quote, "Kill everyone inside."

After a struggle, officers say the husband and wife were both arrested. They are being held in the Carter County Jail while police investigate them for terroristic threats and resisting arrest.
