'Make a Splash for Hunger' raises over $5,000 for food pantries

BENTON, IL (KFVS) - The "Make a Splash for Hunger" food drive raised over $5,000 to split between the Ministerial Alliance food pantries in Benton and Marion, Ill.

Weeks Automotive Group and Withers Broadcasting teamed up for the event.

The car dealership raffled off a car to raise money to help stock the shelves and they say the money could not have come at a better time.

"That's community efforts coming together with the focus on helping people and I cannot over emphasize how much it is needed right now," said JR Russell with the Ministerial Alliance food pantry.

Dave Broy with Greg Weeks, Inc. said they are just very thankful to have the opportunity to be able to do that.

Those with the food pantries say the money will help them provide for over 400 families for at least a month.
