Calvert City designated 1st StormReady church in nation

CALVERT CITY, KY (KFVS) -

Just in time for National Preparedness Month, a presentation ceremony will be held Sunday, Sept. 8 at 11:30 a.m., at Pathway Baptist Church in Calvert City, Ky., that will recognize the church as a StormReady Supporter.

This designation makes Pathway Baptist Church the nation’s first to receive this level of achievement for storm readiness.

The western Kentucky StormReady Advisory Board will recognize the church’s severe weather operations plan, including a tornado drill April 28, and the overall commitment to the safety of its congregation and visitors.

The Kentucky Weather Preparedness Committee’s works with local emergency management agencies to help local churches, like Pathway, and faith based originations to develop a safety plan in the event of a tornado or storm.
