SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

A Cape Girardeau man is accused leading officers on a chase and then biting a sheriff's deputy.

Joshua Dannenmueller, 33, of Cape Girardeau was charged with assault of a law enforcement officer, careless and imprudent driving and failure to obey a traffic control device.

According to Sheriff Rick Walter, around 8:48 p.m. Sunday, Scott County tried to stop a vehicle driven by Dannenmueller on northbound Highway 61 in Scott County.

Walter says the vehicle was all over the road and did not stop for deputies.

Dannenmueller drove to Scott City where officers there assisted. Dannenmueller continued to flee, driving northbound on Interstate 55. The pursuit entered Cape Girardeau, and Dannenmueller was then stopped by officers on South Kingshighway.

Walter says during Dannenmueller's arrest, the man bit a deputy resulting in the assault charge.

Dannenmueller was taken the Scott County Jail with a bond of $1,500 cash only.
