Names released of three people killed in Carmi wreck

CARMI, IL (WFIE) -

Three people are killed in a wreck involving a dump truck and a motorcycle. 

The White County Sheriff's Office says it happened on Epworth Road, near Carmi, IL, on Thursday afternoon.

Investigators say the truck was heading northbound and entered the southbound lane of traffic, striking the motorcycle.

The truck then left the roadway, striking a tree.

The truck is owned by O'Daniel Trucking of Carmi.

The driver of the truck, 69-year-old Robert Leffingwell, of Carmi, and both people on the motorcycle, 43-year-old Michael Barton, of Evansville, and 35-year-old D'ella Ratley, of Herrin, IL, were pronounced dead at the scene when officials arrived.

Illinois State Police are still investigating the accident.
