CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The United Way of Southeast Missouri is asking for a $1 million and they hope you can help them reach their goal.
The organization recognized community super heroes at a luncheon Thursday in Cape Girardeau.
More than 200 volunteers are involved in the effort, but the campaign depends on the generosity of thousands of people.
"We set a really lofty goal this year so that we can meet more needs of those in our community," said Jeanne Muckerman, 2013 Campaign Chairperson. "There are many people who are hungry and who are jobless and who just need an opportunity to move to the next level. And so, that's what, the money raised with the United Way is all about."
All the money raised in the campaign stays in the Cape Girardeau and Jackson area.
