CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - A public meeting will be held Wednesday night in Cape Girardeau getting input on several proposed nuisance ordinance changes.

For awhile now, people have been sounding-off in an online survey, basically telling the city what they think needs attention in Cape Girardeau.

They are things like drugs, run-down buildings, noise, graffiti, or vandalism.

The city's looking at those surveys, and they'll hear from the public about what ordinances they think needs changing.

Nuisance supervisor Ty Mezter explains the need for ordinance changes.

"Right now we need to change with the times just like anywhere," said Mezter. "What we have is, our ordinances may not fit the way they did 10-15 years ago, and we need our ordinances to work for today's violations."

The meeting is at the Osage Centre and starts at 6 p.m.

According to the city's website, nuisances are defined as any object or action that is obnoxious, unhealthy, dangerous or offensive to the public.
