PERCY, IL (KFVS) - An injury crash is under investigation in Randolph County.
According to Illinois State police, the Randolph County Sheriff's Department received a report of reckless driving of a 2000 GMC Jimmy SUV.
A Randolph County deputy tried to conduct a traffic stop six miles north of Chester traveling southbound on IL Route 3.
However, the suspect vehicle driven by Shane D. Smith, 48 of Union City, Tenn. refused to stop, traveled through Chester, and turned onto eastbound IL Route 150 toward Steeleville.
The Steeleville Police Department deployed stop sticks one mile west of Steeleville.
The driver of the SUV struck the stop sticks, but continued through Steeleville to the west edge of Percy where he tried to pass a vehicle near Chestnut Street.
He tried to avoid hitting an oncoming semi and swerved back into the eastbound lane, striking a 2013 GMC 2500 HD pickup truck driven by Joseph H. Durham, 53, of Percy, Illinois in the rear.
The pickup truck left the road and hit an embankment.
The suspect vehicle rolled over several times and came to a rest in the road.
Both drivers were injured with non-life threatening injuries.
Charges are pending. Troopers say charges will be filed through the Randolph County Sheriff's Department.
Traffic is back open.
