PERRYVILLE, MO (KFVS) - The Perryville community honored a wrecker driver known throughout the area who was killed in a tragic accident over the weekend.
It was to honor the life of Michael Schmidt.
He was the owner of Schmidt Wrecker Service in Perryville.
He died after getting caught under a tractor trailer while he was trying to load on a wrecker last weekend.
His sudden death has made quite an impact o the community.
"Mike would do anything for anybody and he'd never give it a second thought, he would do it," said Gary Weinhold.
"He lived these wreckers, he loved these wreckers he loved his life," said John Hagan. "It was his dream and we're gonna live it on."
At the time of this death on Saturday, Perry County Coroner Herb Miller called Schmidt a great man of the community who will be missed by many.
