QULIN, MO (KFVS) -

Ashley Maddock was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma in July. She and her family are determined to battle the cancer and the community is joining the fight.

"A group of our friends got together and made bracelets that they're selling for a fundraiser," Maddock said. "They're making t-shirts that they're selling for a fundraiser. This is all money that's coming out of their own pockets. They're going to give us all the proceeds that they make from it."

Maddock and her family have to drive to St. Louis for chemotherapy treatments. She said that’s an added expense to the many medical bills her family is having to pay.

She says that’s why the help of friends, family and the entire Qulin community is essential in fighting the battle against cancer.

"It's nice to live in a small town when something bad happens everybody pitches in and helps," Maddock said.

Maddock says she is determined to win her battle against cancer for her children's sake.

"I just want to get through it," Maddock said. "I don't want my kids to grow up without a mom. They're babies. They wouldn't even remember me really, which is my biggest fear."

Supporters are selling bracelets and t-shirts to help the Maddock family pay their bills. For information on how you can help visit the Ashley’s Fight Facebook page.
