Casting directors looked for background extras to be used in a 20th Century Fox movie shooting in Cape Girardeau during a casting call today. Kadee Brosseau was there and talked to Dr. James Dufek, a professor with the Department of Mass Media at Southeast Missouri State University, about the auditions. Two familiar faces in the automobile world stopped by the 7th Annual Cars for Kids show at the Arena Building today. Thousands were there to see all the cars on display and to enjoy lots of food and games. They welcomed Cherie Lynn Westrich from "Overhaulin'" and Rick Bacon from "Muscle Car Garage."

A Valier man is dead after a crash on Route 148 north of Sesser early this morning. According to the Jefferson County Coroner Eddie Joe Marks, Ronnie Jay Stroud, Jr. was driving south on Rte. 148 when he lost control of his car and ran off the road, hitting several trees.
