MCCRACKEN COUNTY, KY (KFVS) -

A Benton, Ky. man was injured in a motorcycle wreck Saturday.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department was notified of an injury crash involving a motorcycle in the 800 block of Lovelaceville Florence-Station Road East around 1:41 a.m.

They say the investigation showed that 49-year-old Gene T. Boswell was going eastbound on Lovelaceville Florence-Station Road East. As he took a right-hand curve on his 2007 Harley Davidson Sportster, he went across the center line and the westbound lane of traffic and onto the shoulder of the road where he hit a mailbox and overturned.

Deputies say Boswell slid through a gravel driveway and came to rest on the edge of the roadway. They say a passerby noticed Boswell and called for help. When Deputies arrived Boswell was being cared for by two people who happened upon the crash. One of which was a volunteer firefighter from Calloway County.

According to the sheriff's department, there were no witnesses to the crash and it unknown how long Boswell had been laying in the roadway before being found. They say the firefighter did notice that the engine on Boswell’s motorcycle was cool to the touch.

Boswell received additional treatment at the scene by Hendron Lone Oak Firefighters and crews from Mercy Regional EMS. He was taken to the hospital where he remained in serious condition. The investigation is ongoing.
