Piedmont drive-in could get help with switch to digital

(KFVS) -

When was the last time you went to the drive-in movie theater? It's probably been a while.

There aren't many around anymore and those that are, may be in danger of closing.

That's because those theaters can't afford to make the switch to a digital format.

Honda Motor Corporation has stepped in to help with that.

The company has launched what it calls "Project Drive-In."

With that project, the more than $80,000 cost for digital projectors at the five theaters that get the most votes online will be covered.

The Pine Hill Theater in Piedmont is the only theater on the list from the Heartland.
