MISSISSIPPI COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

The Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office participated in two back to school fairs coordinated by Rev. Dean Wallace, Director of the Shining Light Baptist Mission in Charleston, this past weekend.

About 500 children were fingerprinted on identity kit cards, which were then given to their parents. The parents were also given safety tips necessary in helping them avoid dangerous situations.

“Education and preparation make a huge difference,” said Sheriff Moore. "And we enjoy meeting with the kids, and helping parents complete their Child I.D. kits."

The Sheriff’s Department would like to recognize Rev. Dean Wallace for his strong leadership and the role he played in bringing the events to fruition.

The Sheriff’s Department would also like to thank the East Prairie Church of God, the Elm Street Baptist Church, and several other local entities for their respective contributions.
