Johnston City Police Department moves into new building

JOHNSTON CITY, IL (KFVS) -

The Johnston City police department has moved, and officers are still on duty.

According to Police Chief Vernon Campbell, the building they were in was falling apart, and they had to get in somewhere more secure

The police department is currently operating out of City Hall until further notice

Dispatch comes out of Herrin, and has for a while.

The old police station used to house city treasurer, the police department and others.

Everyone else moved out when a bank in town gave the city a new building.

Johnston City has three full time officers plus the chief and six part time officers.

Chief Campbell says there will be possibly two open full time positions filled soon.
