CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

The course was a little soggy, but plenty of golfers showed up to support the Southeast Missouri Food Bank Monday morning.

Dalhousie Country Club hosted the full course golf classic.

More than 20 teams showed up to raise some green while having fun on the greens.

Event organizer Amanda Winschel says this is one of the only fundraisers for the Southeast Missouri  Food Bank.

"Yeah we were a little bit nervous, Winschel said. "We always are with the weather changing but we have a lot of great people that support the food bank. I think that they are here to support us and play a round of golf."

Monday's event raised about $20,000 and the folks at the food bank say that amount of money can provide more than 140,000 meals.

The food bank serves almost 60,000 people every month in 16 southeast Missouri counties.
