Dexter man charged after child, 3 officers treated at hospital

DEXTER, MO (KFVS) -

A Dexter man faces charges after a child and three police officers were treated at a hospital for exposure to smoke caused by a meth lab.

Terry W. Wilkerson is charged with distribute, deliver, manufacture, producer or attempt to or possess with intent to distribute, deliver, manufacture, produce a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child.

According to the probable cause statement, officers found Wilkerson pouring a chemical down the kitchen sink from a clear jar at a house at 1213 East Elk Street in Dexter. A fire ignited in the sink.

A three-year-old girl was found sleeping in a bedroom near the kitchen.

Several items used to manufacture meth were found. Those items include pseudoephedrine, lye, coleman fuel, coffee filters, and cold packs with ammonia nitrate.

A Stoddard County deputy and two Dexter police officers were treated at the hospital in Dexter for exposure to smoke caused by the fire.

The child was also treated at the hospital.
