HAYTI, MO (KFVS) -

People looking for free medical services lined up early Monday morning at Hayti High School.

That according to an army soldier in the Bootheel to help with operation healthy delta.

The Delta Regional Authority teamed up with service members from all branches to provide the medical, vision, and dental care.

One patient at the clinic called it a blessing.

"It's amazing man because I ain't really never seen nothing like this done before," said Chazmon Ford. "For people to come up with the idea and the money to do this its really... I am really at a loss for words because it is a blessing."

The clinic runs until next Wednesday, August 13 and organizers say they could still use volunteers and donations of water because they're expecting large crowds the whole time.

Operation Healthy Delta is sponsored by the Delta Regional Authority and the city of Hayti.

Services are provided by the US Army, Air Force Reserves and US Navy.

Services include medical screening and non-emergency medical treatment, student physicals, dental exams, extractions and fillings, minor lab tests, optometry exams and free eye glasses. Also offered is medical health resources and prescription assistance.

Health educational and local resource information is available on site.

For those 2 years and older, there is no emergency or OB exams/treatment.

Red Cross volunteers are needed. They would like to hand out water during the hottest part of the day from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. If you can volunteer contact Karen Hartung, Pemiscot County Disaster Action Team Leader by email.
