POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KFVS) -

On Friday, officers with the Poplar Bluff Police Department and the Butler County Sheriff’s Office recovered more than $12,000 worth of stolen power and hand tools from Butler County and Wayne Counties.

According to police, the tools were reported stolen from a construction site on Hwy 160 in Butler County Missouri on July 31.

Police say victim claimed all of his work tools were taken in the theft. The estimated value of the tools were $15,520.

On Thursday, Investigators say the victim learned that a man named "Riley" sold some of his missing tools. Police say he later learned through Facebook that the person who allegedly sold the tools was Riley Doles.

Officers went to Riley Doles' home in the 900 block of Cynthia Street, where they recovered most of the missing tools.

Riley Doles, 29, of Poplar Bluff and Ricardo Botero, 47, of Poplar Bluff were charged with felony stealing and were taken to the Butler County Jail. Both were being held on Missouri Division of Probation & Parole detainers.

“This case is a prime example of the importance of maintaining a good working relationship between our area law enforcement agencies, and of the growing importance of social media networks in criminal investigations," said Poplar Bluff Police Chief Danny Whiteley.
