23 arrested, 7 sought after gang roundup in Sikeston

The Scott County Missouri grand jury indicted 30 suspected members of a local street gang in Sikeston.

The Sikeston Department of Public Safety arrested 23 suspected members. Seven people are still being sought.

A warrant roundup called "Operation Safe Street" arrested the suspected members of "The Brick Squad Monopoly aka 'BSM'."

The suspects are charged with participating knowingly in criminal street gang activities with $50,000 cash only bond conditions.

The investigation stemmed from two events. In November 2012, there was a large street fight with shots fired on Coleman Street. Then on June 10, 2013, a burglary and assault at 810 Mary left a person paralyzed.

According to Sikeston DPS, the Brick Squad Monopoly was involved in both incidents.

Sikeston DPS cites the same street gang as responsible for several other crimes. One of those crimes was an armed street robbery with two arrests and a home invasion which involved a shootout inside a home with a victim and four arrested. Several firearms were recovered during these investigations.

The Missouri Highway Patrol, DEA, ATF, Scott County Juvenile office and the Scott County Sheriff’s office assisted in the roundup.

Anyone with information regarding these types of crimes is asked to contact Sikeston DPS at 573-471-1500 or 573-471-4711. You can be eligible for a cash reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction(s) of the offenders.
