CHARLESTON, MO (KFVS) -

A Charleston woman is facing felony charges after deputies say she was caught sneaking drugs and drug paraphernalia into the Mississippi County Jail.

According to the sheriff's office, Valery Davis, 42, of Charleston, was booked last weekend on a Cape Girardeau County warrant for drug distribution charges. Davis was charged with delivery/possession and concealment of a controlled substance within a county jail, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia.

Deputies say a small plastic baggie which contained twenty small blue pills was concealed in the inmate’s undergarments.

Those pills were later identified as Alprazolam, a controlled substance. Officers say a pipe was also confiscated.

The items were turned over to jail administrator as evidence to the SEMO crime lab.

Davis was taken to the Mississippi County Detention Center under $25,000 bond. She has a preliminary hearing scheduled for August 14.
