Mt. Vernon man crashes on I-57 after medical emergency

MT. VERNON, IL (KFVS) -

A Mount Vernon man was hospitalized after a tow truck crash Thursday morning in Jefferson County, Illinois.

It happened shortly after 9 a.m. on Interstate 57 at the 91 mile marker.

According to Illinois State Police, EMS administered life saving measures to the truck's driver, 56-year-old Richard Roach.

Crash investigators say the two truck was southbound on I-57 before Roach had a medical emergency while driving. Roach's truck hit a concrete barrier and came to a rest in a road cavity.

EMS took Roach to a Mt. Vernon hospital for treatment.
