Union City plant to close, taking 260 jobs

UNION CITY, TN (KFVS) -

Innovative Hearth Products announces the closure of their Lennox Hearth Products facility in Union City, Tennessee.

The facility is scheduled to close in the spring or summer of 2014.

A Union City official says the closure will result in the loss of around 260 jobs.

"This is part of our strategic plan, to have West Coast and East Coast mirror image, fireplace manufacturing facilities," said Mark Klein, IHP CEO. "We realize this has some very difficult consequences for many of our long time employees at the Union City facility. This is our plan to remain the low cost producer and stay very competitive in the difficult building products industry."

Lennox Hearth Products offers a line of indoor and outdoor fireplaces, fireplace inserts, pellet, wood, and gas burning stoves, gas log sets, and fireplace accessories.
