FISK, MO (KFVS) -

It was the ultimate surprise for a Heartland woman when she found out part of the road to her house had been dug up.

"I was in shock," Karen Eudaley said.

Eudaley installed a drain pipe on her private property back in 1997. She says the flooding would get so bad that she couldn't get through.

Recently, Eudaley said the drainage district dug it up because it was causing problems for other people and not pumping water fast enough.

"I was just in shock," Eudaley said. "What else can I say? Who can they do this without even telling someone they are going to do it?"

The good news Eudaley said is she actually sold her property, and the new owners have agreed with the blessing of the drainage district to install a new bigger drain that should work better.

"They have battling me since '97," she said. "They didn't like the fact that I put it in there but how else am I supposed to have access to my property on the other side of the ditch."
