Arkansas man drowns in Current River

DONIPHAN, MO (KFVS) -

Authorities say an Arkansas man drowned Sunday in the Current River.

It happened Sunday around 11:15 a.m.

The victim is identified as Stephen T. Hill, 57, of Paragould, Arkansas.

According to Missouri Highway Patrol Corporal Clark Parrott, the man drowned Sunday five miles north of the Doniphan, Missouri bridge.

Parrott says the man's 16-foot canoe tipped over after hitting a root wad. Another occupant of the boat was able to swim to shore.
