Jackson Post 158 lose in Zone 4 tournament

(KFVS) -

The Jackson Senior American Legion Post 158 squad had a tough hill to climb. After losing on Thursday in the Zone 4 tournament, Jackson would need to win four games in a row to take the zone title. It got through the first two games unscathed, but its season came to an end Saturday evening with a 4-3 loss to Eureka, who won the zone championship.

Jackson's season ends with a 41-9 record.

The day started out nicely as Jackson avenged a loss to Festus, winning 11-6 to reach the championship round. Colin Herzog got the win for Jackson, and got help from his shortstop Laban Petzoldt, who hit a solo home run and drove in another.

Jackson led Eureka 3-2 in the 8th inning, but Eureka rallied for the 4-3 lead and held on to win by that score at Whitey Herzog Stadium.
