Pulaski Co. man convicted of armed robbery

A Pulaski County man was convicted Thursday after a jury found him guilty of armed robbery.

According to Pulaski County State's Attorney Grayson Gile, Noah Jeffery Hightower, 32, was found guilty of one count of armed robbery and two counts of aggravated robbery.

The robbery happened on June 21, 2012 at the Mounds, Illinois Dollar General Store.

Mounds Police say Noah Hightower went into the store with what appeared to be an assault rifle, reportedly wearing a bandanna-like mask and overalls and demanded money. Police say he took the money and left.

Mounds officers arrested Hightower about a quarter mile away. The gun and money were later found.

The jury deliberated for less than one hour.

Sentencing is scheduled for September after a pre-sentence investigation is done.
