GREENVILLE, MO (KFVS) -

A local sheriff's dispatcher is behind bars and is accused of selling synthetic marijuana.

The arrest happened in Wayne County last night after a pretty quick investigation.

Wayne County sheriff Dean Finch said the dispatcher, Krista McAllister, had only been working for the department for two months.

He said not only was she selling drugs out of her home, but he said she used inside information to try to tip off another alleged dealer.

Police say she tried to tip off an alleged drug dealer before deputies and the SEMO Drug Task Force were to come and arrest them for dealing synthetic marijuana.

Finch said he hired McAllister as a dispatcher in May and never suspected she was involved in the drug trade until the end of last week; and while McAllister was being investigated, she still came to work.

"You make sure you don't say anything in front of them you wouldn't want the public to hear," Finch said.

On Wednesday morning, Finch said McAllister allegedly made a call from the dispatcher's office to another dealer to let them know the police were coming for a drug bust.

Fortunately, Finch said they were able to arrest that dealer, and were also able to raid McAllister's home, where they found dozens of bags of synthetic marijuana and cash.

"I want it to send the message from me that it doesn't matter who you are, if you're doing drugs in Wayne County, you're going to jail," Finch said.

Now, McAllister and her roommate, Tonya McKinney are behind bars along with a third alleged dealer for selling synthetic marijuana.

Residents in Wayne County say every arrest makes a difference.

"I believe it will. I think the sheriff did a real nice job for us," said Greenville resident Leslie Borchard.

Finch said the synthetic marijuana trade has become a bigger problem in Wayne County and he's doing whatever he can to keep it out.

He said there have been more drug arrests this year than in all of 2012.
