Small Franklin County town to resume mail service

ORIENT, IL (KFVS) -

People in Orient, Illinois, have mail service again.

The post office in the small Franklin County community shut down a few months ago. Now, the town will get a cluster box installed near City Hall.

Since then, everyone has had to make the 10-mile roundtrip to West Frankfort to get his or her mail.

"It's going to be nice, it will be nice if it happens in a timely manner but it's been 3 months now and might be another 6 months before we get it," said Mark Morris of Orient. " So what's that going to do for the older part of the community in town."

People in Orient will have keys to the box, but will not be able to send packages or buy stamps in town.
