Cape Girardeau man accused of murdering wife and son has court appearance

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

The Cape Girardeau man accused of murdering his wife and son appeared before a judge in a preliminary hearing on Wednesday at the Cape Girardeau County courthouse.

George Joseph learned his next court appearance is scheduled for August.

The court found the prosecution showed probable cause that the crime was committed by George. He was bound over to Division 1 Circuit Court on August 5.

According to the probable cause statement, Joseph killed 57-year-old Mary Joseph and 18-year-old Matthew Joseph, while they were sleeping in separate beds on May 30.

George also has possible ties to a financial investigation, but he currently faces no charges in connection to that investigation.

George remains in custody of the Cape Girardeau Sheriff's Office.
