Dist. 22, Metropolis police raise over $1,300 for Special Olympics

METROPOLIS, IL (KFVS) -

“Spare Change for Real Change” for Special Olympics Illinois was held statewide on Friday and Saturday, July 19 through 20, which was the 45th anniversary of the beginning of the Special Olympics.

Illinois State Police District 22 Troopers and Metropolis Police Officers were at the intersection of 12th and Metropolis on Friday, July 19, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. collecting money for Special Olympics Illinois.

In those four hours $1,306.27 was raised. They group said they are overwhelmed by the generosity and support they received from the community and appreciate every coin and bill that was collected.
