HARRISBURG, IL (KFVS) -

Two people have been sentenced to prison time on meth related charges in Saline County.

According to the state's attorney's office, Dawnetta M. Newcomb, 31 of Carrier Mills and Richard J. Vaughn, 21, of Eldorado were sentenced by Judge Walden E. Morris.

Newcomb was sentenced to six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections with one year of mandatory supervised release and costs.

Vaughn was sentenced to three years in the Illinois Department of Corrections with one year of mandatory supervised release and costs.

The state's attorney says both Newcomb and Vaughn pleaded guilty to felony unlawful purchase of a methamphetamine precursor.

Investigators say Newcomb and Vaughn both bought pseudoephedrine from local pharmacies without a prescription. By Illinois law, anyone who has been previously convicted of an offense under the methamphetamine control and community protection act has to have a prescription.
