COPY-Wrigley renovation plan clears another hurdle

CHICAGO (AP) - The Chicago Cubs' planned $500 million renovation of Wrigley Field has won the approval of another city commission and the support of the local alderman - all but assuring that the project will go forward.

The Chicago Sun-Times (http://bit.ly/15qwmoE ) reports that the Chicago Plan Commission approved Thursday the proposal to renovate Wrigley and develop nearby property. Alderman Tom Tunney endorsed the plan days after he told the city's landmarks commission that he didn't. The project must still be approved by the full City Council, but approval is widely expected because it is supported by Tunney and Mayor Rahm Emanuel.

Tunney said Emanuel has assured him there will be no outfield signs for several years except for the Jumbotron and another large sign that the landmarks commission approved last week.
