3 workers go to hospital after lime spill

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Three workers had to be hospitalized after lime engulfed a man on Tuesday morning.

According to Cape Girardeau Assistant Fire Chief Mark Hashhider, a worker at the Waste Water Treatment Plant in Cape Girardeau was working in a storage control area around 9:30 a.m.

Above him was a silo that released lime and engulfed him before knocking him down.

A second worker then helped pull the worker out of the lime.

After that, others started brushing the lime off the man before fire fighters arrived and took over.

The worker was taken by ambulance to St. Francis Hospital. Two other workers went to the hospital by private vehicle.
