Call center in Cape Girardeau to lay off around 420 workers

Integrity Solution Services in Cape Girardeau, formerly known as the NARS Call Center, is notifying around 420 employees of the company's intent to lay off all the employees at the Cape Girardeau location as of September 10.

Stacy Spradling, the company's vice president of human resources, says the company's single client has opted to take its customer service work in house.

Within the next 60 days, the company will continue to work to find a new client and offer resources to help employees find new jobs.

"Resume writing classes, mock interviews, we'll be bringing in employers in the area, both large and small to come in and do job fairs right here in our building," said Spradling. "We'll give our employees the flexibility to meet with them. And hopefully, by the end of this on Sept. 10 we will have placed, if not all, a majority of the employees we have here."

The company is offering pay and benefits in accordance with the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act. The company is providing a variety of services that will to help employees with the job search process. This includes hosting resume workshops and arranging onsite visits by other local employers as well as working with the state to make sure employees know about available state services and resources, including unemployment benefit enrollment, training, and job search assistance.

Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce President John Mehner says the goal is to market the facility and employees to potential buyers.

Integrity is seeking other customers to fill this site and has received inquiries to acquire the facility. Integrity has had one request to buy the facility.

The remainder of Integrity’s business at its other eight facilities will not be impacted.
