A Graves County mother faces several charges after she was found unconscious on the side of a road with her baby in a stroller.

Trina Cruse is charged with public intoxication, wanton endangerment 1st degree, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a controlled substance 3rd degree, and prescription controlled substance not in proper container 1st offense.

Deputies responded to SR 303 at Natchez Trace on July 10 at 9:26 p.m. for an unconscious woman on the side of the road with a small child in a stroller next to her.

Trina Cruse and 12-month-old child were taken to Jackson Purchase Medical Center ER. Both mother and child were treated and released.

Witnesses told police that Cruse was seen walking down SR 303 in the dark pushing a stroller and was nearly hit by a car that did not see her in the road.

Cruse made her way just off the road and became unconscious, according to Graves County Sheriff's Office.

EMS reported that Cruse was unconscious when they got to her and she woke up after getting inside the ambulance.

Cruse was found to be "manifestly under the influence of drugs," according to the sheriff's office.

Social services responded to the hospital and talked to Cruse. The child was released to a grandmother.

Cruse was taken to the Graves County Jail on $5,000 bond.
