KENNETT, MO (KFVS) -

The Kennett Humane Department and Kennett Police Department are looking for information after a dog was found shot on the side of a road.

A boxers mix was found on the side of the road near the Bayird Dodge with several deep cuts.

After an X-ray, the veterinarian found the dog had been shot with several pellets. He had very little use of the hind leg.

Dr. Mobley's vet office is trying to save his life and asking for donations. They are located at 1704 St. Francis Street in Kennett. 573-888-2255.

The dog is young and has already been altered.

"This is a crime that needs to be prosecuted," said Tena Petix, humane officer in Kennett. "We will not tolerate this in Kennett."

Anyone with information about who may have injured the dog is asked to contact the Kennett Police Department at 573-888-4622.
