Police say a man fired shots at officers during a standoff. Police say a man fired shots at officers during a standoff.

A Fulton, Kentucky man faces attempted murder of a police officer charges after a standoff Sunday night.

Kentucky State Police got a call of shots fired to an apartment at the Royal Ridge apartment complex in Fulton County at 11:20 p.m. 

Trooper Jay Thomas says 56-year-old Keith E. Dildine barricaded himself inside an apartment and refused to come out.

Thomas says Dildine fired shots at Fulton police officers as well as troopers. Officers and a trooper shot back and hit Dildine.

Thomas says Dildine surrendered. He was taken by ambulance to Parkway Regional Hospital and later air lifted to The Med Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., where he remained in critical condition Monday.

Dildine faces two counts of criminal attempt of murder of a police officer.

No officers were hurt.

Kentucky State Police is continuing its investigation.
