Tonight on Heartland News at 9 and 10, we'll have some safety tips for over the holiday weekend.

A cookout is popular on 4th of July, but health officials say it could come with some risks. Kadee Brosseau talked to an health official on how to avoid cross-contamination and prevent food poisoning. You can click here for more.

A southeast Missouri woman has been sentenced to seven years in prison in the death of her two-year-old daughter. Joanie Fowler, 25, was convicted of child endangerment.
