NRC gives go-ahead to Honeywell to resume operations

METROPOLIS, IL (KFVS) -

Operations are back up and running at the Honeywell uranium conversion plant in Metropolis.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission made a final inspection and authorized the plant to resume operations.

Back in October 2012, the NRC told the company it would need to make changes to the plant so that it could withstand both earthquake and tornadoes.

Honeywell has been closed since May 2012. Operations started back up on a very limited basis last month.
