CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

Two people were injured after a crash at the intersection of South Kingshighway and Southern Expressway in Cape Girardeau.

Cape Girardeau Police say a 63-year-old man from Oran was driving a 2011 Corvette when it hit a 1993 Mack truck. Both vehicles were headed northbound on Kingshighway. The impact moved the truck forward.

Officer Darrin Hickey says the semi was coming to a stop when the driver of the Corvette swerved to the right to try to avoid hitting the truck, but couldn't avoid it. The Corvette hit the right rear of the truck.

The driver of the Corvette was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the semi was from Tamms, Illinois and taken to the hospital with minor, non-life threatening injuries.
