A Carbondale woman was sentenced to probation after entering an Alford plea related to a false report of a sexual assault.
Melisa B. Vistain, 29, of Carbondale was charged with disorderly conduct.
She is accused of telling a Jackson County Sheriff's deputy about a criminal sexual assault that had no reasonable grounds on March 31, 2012, according to Jackson County State's Attorney Michael C. Carr.
Vistain was sentenced to one year of probation and ordered to pay a $450 fine.
The Alford plea means Vistain admits prosecutors have enough evidence to prove the case, but does not admit guilt.
