HORNERSVILLE, MO (KFVS) -

A quick-thinking Hornersville city employee saved three kittens from being smashed into trash.

While working his route, the sanitation employee was about to start the compacter when he heard crying kittens coming from the bag he just put in garbage truck on Wednesday. The kittens were only a day or two old.

One kitten has bite wounds and appears to be paralyzed.

The man rescued the new born kittens and called the local vet.

The kittens have been placed with a foster parent to try and save them.

Anyone with information about is asked to call the Caruthersville Humane Society at 573-359-0113 or 573-359-5802 or their local law enforcement agency.
