CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

If you like classic cars, downtown Cape Girardeau will be the place to be Tuesday.

The Great Race is part endurance race and part touring classic car show.

The race starts in Saint Paul, Minnesota and ends in Mobile, Alabama.

The racers and their cars will start arriving in Cape at 5 p.m. and show up one by one for 90 minutes.

The convention and visitor's bureau leadership hopes this event is a way to attract more events.

"It really is a building block," said Chuck Martin with Cape Girardeau's Convention and Visitor's Bureau. "If you can demonstrate that you are a good host city it really does open the door for future events."

All the cars participating were built before 1969 and most were made before WWII.
