Scott Co. deputy receives awards for heroism during train derailment

SCOTT COUNTY, MO (KFVS) -

Scott County Sheriff Deputy Justin Wooten received two awards on Monday.

An Act of Heroism award was presented to Wooten from the Union Pacific Police Department for his heroic efforts during the train derailment on May 25. A Letter of Commendation was also presented to him from the Scott County Sheriff's Department for his act of courage.

Wooten rescued two Union Pacific workers out of the train when it collided with a Santa Fe Burlington Northern train in Rockview.
