Firefighter injured in crash on way to fire

Posted: Updated:

A firefighter was injured in a crash Monday afternoon on the way to a call.

Scott County Fire Chief Jeremy Perrien says the firefighter was taken to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, but has since been released.

The crash happened north of Hwy. 61 on State Hwy. U toward Blodgett.

Perrien says the brush truck was turning into a field road when another vehicle t-boned it.

The visibility at the scene was zero due to a farmer burning off a field.

The other driver was not injured and refused medical treatment.

Perrien advises farmers to be cautious of wind speed and climate conditions before burning a field to make sure they're kept under control.
