CARBONDALE, IL (KFVS) -

A Carbondale, Illinois man has been convicted of felony residential burglary.

Jamelle E. Travis, 31, was convicted of the crime following a jury trial on Monday, June 10.

On March 11, 2013, police responded to a home in the 400 block of South Washington Street in reference to a report of a home burglary in progress. Officers learned the victim returned to his home around 1:45 p.m. and found that someone had broke in.

Police say as the victim called in the report, Travis, ran from the home. They were able to arrest him after a short foot chase.

Sentencing for Travis has been set for August 5. He faces four to 15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
