CHESTER, IL (KFVS) -

Thirty-three year-old Derrick Twardoski, the man being charged for the quadruple murder of Ethan, Kailey, Brandon and Landon Owen to undergo a mental evaluation to determine if he is fit to stand trial.

Twardoski's attorney asked for the evaluation after talking with Twardoski for several hours.

The prosecuting attorney's says that evaluation could take place as early as tomorrow.

"I mean this is exactly what I anticipated would happen, I won't get in to my personal feelings if he is fit or not, but I would rather address the issue at the very beginning so it doesn't become an issue down the road or many years from now after we convict this guy," says Prosecuting Attorney Jeremy Walker. "I don't want any reason for this to come back on appeals and this is one of those hurdles we get over."

In court today, family and friends of the children wore shirts in support of the Owen family that read "Owens angels" with pictures and names of the four siblings who died.

The parents, Matt and Natasha Owen were there-and at one point after Twardoski left the courtroom, Natasha Owen broke down and started crying.

Twardoski will be back in court June 20.
