CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) -

A Cape Girardeau man, who had murder charges dropped against him last week, was sentenced Monday to seven years in the Missouri Department of Corrections on a robbery charge.

Malcolm U. Harris had his probation revoked on previous charges dating back to 2011.

On March 29, 2011, Harris was charged with robbery second degree. Court papers show he was sentenced to seven years for that charge.

However, Harris did not serve jail time on the robbery charge, and he was placed on five years probation. That probation was revoked in a Cape Girardeau courtroom on May 6.

Court papers show Harris had served 120 days of a prison shock sentence in 2011.

Harris had been charged with second-degree murder in connection to the shooting death of Nicholas Gilbert on December 16, 2012. Those charges were dropped in May 2013.
