Southeast Missouri State sophomore thrower Kevin Farley has been honored by the Ohio Valley Conference.

According to Southeast, on Thursday Farley was named the OVC Male Field Co-Athlete of the Year.

Farley, of Springfield, Illinois,  is leading the OVC in both the shot put and discus while ranking second in the league in the hammer throw, according to the athletic department.

Officials say the sophomore has won five event titles and posted 14 top-three finishes during the outdoor season.

He shares the award with Tennessee State's Royce Dates.

Farley was named OVC Male Freshman of the Year in 2012.

The Redhawks compete in the OVC Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Friday and Saturday.
